This 20,000 ft2, state-of-the-art eye center will double the number of ophthalmologists on permanent staff, house a custom-designed ambulatory surgical center, and will provide more than six times the current amount of clinical space for the treatment of eye diseases and disorders. The additional space will also allow Bascom Palmer to expand the number of clinical research trials offered to patients.

St. Thomas is home to an award winning, 5MW PV solar plant that is expected to generate ~7.9 million kWh of electricity annually. This renewable energy system is much needed in the area, and is expected to reduce electricity costs by fifty percent. The island’s steep terrain, fast-growing local vegetation, and seasonal hurricanes presented unique challenges to the design and schedule.
